WEDDING EDITION

How long have you been in business?

I  began photographing as a second shooter for many professionals around the Champaign and Chicago area in May of 2013. Once I had at least a full year of experience in the wedding world, I took on my first wedding as lead photographer for Mager Image Photography in October 2014. 

 

What’s in your camera bag?  Do you shoot digital?

I consider myself a minimalist, meaning I don’t like to be slowed down using a ton of equipment. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II, along with a back up body. As for lenses, I use the 50mm 1.8, 24-70mm 2.8L, and my favorite, the 70-200mm 2.8L. I find that this combination of lenses and bodies gives me everything I need to capture each moment of your big day perfectly. I prefer natural light, but I do use external flashes when needed. I am 100% digital, which also means I have multiple back up systems in place to ensure your photos are protected. 

 

How would you describe your shooting style?

Fun and outgoing, with a desire to tell your story with every image. I want to capture the moments that you may not have time to notice, in addition to the big events of the day. My style isn’t shown just in editing, it’s in the memories we can create together. I value your photos, and love clients who sincerely cherish everything I can provide. I want your wedding day to be everything you imagine and more, and want your photography experience with me to be a positive one. I love getting to know each couple on a personal level, so that both of you are comfortable with me every step of the way. I want to make our relationship into a friendship, rather than just a transaction.

 

What type of sessions do you photograph?

I specialize in shooting high school seniors, along with weddings and love stories. I love love! All wedding collections include a complimentary engagement session, in which is the perfect opportunity for us to get to know one another. Think about it as a “trial run” of sorts! 

* Please note that during peak wedding season, all engagement and senior sessions will be photographed Monday-Thursday about two hours before sunset. The occasional Friday/Saturday may be available, but those dates book fast! 

 

Do you work alone? 

Not for weddings. I can’t imagine working without my team. I feel it necessary to provide you with the best photography team I can. I will always have an assistant with me, no matter what. We have found missing corsages, pinned all of the boutonnières on the men, sewed bridesmaids dresses, and even helped curl the flower girl’s hair. Having an extra set of hands helps tremendously in any situation. I got your back, it’s my job!

 

Do you travel? 

Of course, I love to travel! Whether it be for a senior session or destination wedding, exploring new places is fun and exciting! If your choice of location falls within 50 miles of Loda, IL travel is on me. For distances farther than 50 miles, there is a $.60/mile fee, with a minimum charge of $5. If I will be traveling more than 150 miles, I do ask for hotel and meal accommodations. Travel is calculated on a case-by-case basis, so contact me for more information! 

 

How many photos can we expect?

Weddings and engagement sessions differ for obvious reasons. All images are chosen individually at my discretion. I want to tell your full story in the best way that I can. Although I may take over 1,500 images on your wedding day, I will choose the best photos, and leave out the not-so-hot. You can expect at the very minimum 500 photos in your completed gallery, if not more. For engagement sessions you can expect at least 30 in your online gallery. 

 

Do we get the digital files to print on our own?

For weddings, yes. All final and edited images are uploaded into an online gallery and sent to you via email for viewing. From the online gallery, you can share with friends and family, and download the web sized images. High resolution images can be immediately downloaded from the gallery using a private one-time pin number that I will provide. Professional prints in all sizes as well as canvas prints and other products can be ordered directly from the gallery, or we can set up an ordering session after your photos are complete. Prints from a professional lab do vary greatly from a consumer lab in quality and durability. Most wedding collections include the digital files from the engagement session, but not all. 

 

How can we book you as our wedding photographer?

Wedding dates are available and booked on a first come, first served basis. You can check those dates HERE, although this is not guaranteed. Contact me using the form located at the bottom of this page. The first bride to sign the online contract and make her deposit gets the date. Weddings are often booked 12 to 18 months in advanced, and I can not pencil in a date, risking that date to be taken from another bride. You will be sent the online contract to fill out, and can pay the $500 deposit fee through that same link or send a check in the mail. You can pay your balance all at once, in smaller payments, or we can set up an automatic payment system. Your final balance will be due at least 30 days before the wedding.

 

What happens once we sign the contract and pay the initial deposit?

I will send you an email confirmation with your date and information on how we will proceed.

 

How many hours of coverage should we book for our wedding day? What time should we begin taking photos? 

This is all dependent on a lot of different factors. Ideally, you will want 1.5-2 hours throughout the day to photograph just the couple and wedding party, but the time is certainly not limited to just that. In any instance, the more the merrier! As for specific start time, factors such as the first look, family size, locations, and more will change each timeline. As an #mibride we will work together to create the perfect timeline for your perfect day! 

 

Can we break up the hourly coverage in a collection?

Hourly coverage is consistent hours only. If you need longer coverage, you may upgrade to a higher collection or add ours via the a la carte menu. 

 

Can we change one of your wedding collections?

Absolutely! Tell me your wants, needs, and budget and we will create a custom collection for you.

 

When should we schedule engagement photos?

This is ultimately your call. It could be one year, 6 months, or four weeks before your big day. If you are wanting photos to use for your save-the-dates, newspaper announcements, guest books, etc. you may want to book a bit farther out from your wedding day. Most engagement sessions will take place on weekdays approximately 1.5 hours before sunset.

After our session or wedding, how will we get our products?

Once your session or wedding gallery has been edited and uploaded, I will send it to you via email. Once you have reviewed your gallery, we will set a date to meet up and go over products and you will place your order then.
