Amanda, Kyle, and their families were planning an outdoor ceremony in Iroquois, IL. This is just a couple miles away from my old hometown, so I was excited to go back! I met the girls at Do or Dye Hair Salon run by Andrea Atwood for a few detail shots and the getting ready photos. Then after a quick stop by Amanda’s family’s home, we were on our way to meet the bridesmaids, and show them their charming, beautiful friend for the first time in her gown.
The morning of their big day, we had a few showers, so the ceremony was moved inside the pavilion, where the reception was being held. Although not what was in the plans, everything turned out to be great, and we didn’t have any more rain for the rest of the day! The unity ceremony that Kyle and Amanda chose to go with was the first I had ever seen of its kind. Instead of the traditional candle, or popular sand ceremony, they chose to do a tree planting ceremony. They dug up dirt from Amanda’s childhood home, and Kyle’s childhood home, and together planted a tree using each part of their pasts, to represent their future and growing love for each other. It was so sweet!
After the ceremony, we headed out with the brand new Mr. & Mrs. Mathewson to do family pictures and bridal portraits with the outrageously funny group they chose to stand by their sides. Every single detail involved in the ceremony and reception was the brain child of the creative and talented bride! It was fantastic and a photographer’s dream with so many details!
