How long have you been in business?

I have always loved taking photos as a hobby. After a lot of practice I officially launched Mager Image Photography in 2012, photographing anything and everything! Since then I’ve specialized in senior portraiture, engagements and weddings so that I can really concentrate on each client.

What’s in your camera bag?

I consider myself a minimalist, meaning I don’t like to be slowed down using a ton of equipment. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II, along with a back up body. As for lenses, I use the 50mm 1.8, 24-70mm 2.8L, and my favorite, the 70-200mm 2.8L. I find that this combination of equipment gives me everything I need for your session. I prefer natural light which means I only shoot outdoors on location, the sun is my best friend!

How would you describe your shooting style?

Fun and outgoing, with a passion to tell your story with every image. My editing style would be described as bold, colorful, and elegant. I want to capture the moments that maybe you don’t have time to notice. My style isn’t just in editing, it’s in the memories we can create together. I value your photos, and love clients who sincerely cherish everything I can provide. I want your wedding day to be everything you imagine and more, and want your photography experience with me to be a positive one. I want to get to know you on a personal level, so that you’re comfortable with me every step of the way. I want our relationship to be friendship, not just a transaction.

Will you travel for my senior portraits?

Of course, I love to travel! Whether it be for a senior session or wedding, exploring new places is fun and exciting! One of my favorite senior sessions was taken in downtown Chicago, IL! If your choice of location falls within 50 miles of Loda, IL, travel is on me. For distances farther than 50 miles, there is a small mileage fee. If I will be traveling more than 250 miles, I do ask for hotel and meal accommodations. Travel is calculated on a case-by-case basis, so contact me for more information!

How many photos can I expect?

All images are chosen individually at my discretion. I want to tell your full story in the best way that I can. Although I may take over 500 images, I will choose the best photos, and leave out the not-so-hot. You can expect at the very minimum 30 photos in your completed gallery, if not more.

What should I wear?

Good question! This is such a popular question so I have created a blog post to cover not just what to wear but how else you can prep for you senior session. You can see that post HERE.

When should I have my photos done?

That’s up to you! There are a few things to keep in mind, including your yearbook cutoff date. If you are wanting your photos to put into the year book then you need to check with your yearbook staff on the cutoff date so you can plan accordingly. In addition to the cutoff, please check with me for availability. Certain times of the year tend to fill up quickly, especially fall. I start booking October/November sessions almost 6 months out, so don’t wait if you want that fall color! The weather is also important to keep in mind when planning your session. Spring can mean rain, winter can mean a lot of snow causing dangerous driving conditions, or no snow at all, which means bare grounds with hardly any color. I limit the number of sessions I will take on per week to allow for reschedules in case of weather problems.

What time will we take photos?

I shoot all senior sessions 1-2 hours before sunset. The lighting is absolutely perfect during that time! Plus I’m a big ‘ol fan of silhouette photos, and you can’t do those without a sunset!

I’d love to hear from you!
